About us
Camila Fontán & Matias Díaz
We met in 2009, in a tango class. Since then we started a path together as teachers, dancers and milonga organisers.
We perform shows and teach in the most important salons in Buenos Aires: Confiteria Ideal, Salón Canning, Club Villa Malcolm and Gricel, among others. As well as in universities, cultural centres, schools, dance schools and academies.
We are champions of the Primer Festival Nacional De Tango Anibal Troilo 2014, held in Buenos Aires and we were finalists of the Campeonato de Tango de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires in 2013, 2014 and Vals in 2015.
To date we have toured 9 times internationally, taking tango to countries such as Brazil, Peru, Spain, France, Greece, Italy, Germany, Sweden, Holland, Turkey, Switzerland and Morocco.
In 2010 we baptized all our projects together as 'Abrazando Tangos'. In June 2010 we took on the role of organisers and opened a milonga/school of tango in Buenos Aires with the same name, but because of our more and more frequent tours we had to close it in March 2020.
Since 2023, we established our residence in Switzerland, continuing our mission to spread the magic of Argentine tango and the richness of Argentine culture.
CAMILA FONTÁN
I had my first encounter with art at the age of 7 at the Instituto Vocacional del Arte (IVA), where I explored theatre, corporal expression and folkloric dances, as well as practising artistic gymnastics. At the age of 18, I discovered tango and began a long journey of training with numerous prestigious teachers. I graduated in 2011 with a degree in Folklore with a major in Tango at the UNA (University of the Arts). I am an aggressive Performing Arts Producer at the Julio Bocca Foundation. I am also a Yoga and Pilates instructor. I had a Pilates studio in Buenos Aires for 8 years where I taught and combined Pilates techniques with Tango.
MATÍAS DÍAZ
I began my journey in the world of art studying guitar at the conservatory of classical music in Buenos Aires. It was there at the age of 18 that I met the dancer Cinthia Paz Pereyra who invited me to join her dance classes and take my first steps. Shortly afterwards I continued to discover tango in a cultural centre in the Pompeya neighbourhood with the teachers Nicolás Fernández Larrosa and Silvia Bron. They were the ones who passed on to me much of the pedagogy and love for this dance. I did my professional training at the UNA (Universidad Nacional de las Artes), I was a dancer in the university company between 2010 and 2013. I completed my training as an instructor at the Fracassi conservatory and taught for many years at the same cultural centre where I took my first classes. I continue to learn from colleagues and great teachers to this day.
